A number of video games feature survival in an environment ravaged by war and natural disasters. However, many choose to use pixels to better display their plot as they believe it's difficult to show the whole story in a larger format. Additionally, people don't have much material to work with during survival; therefore, showing small resources and items may be difficult using traditional methods. The Wanderer is a different game. It uses pixel graphics throughout the game, which makes it stand out from other survival games. The game also features good storytelling and decision-making features alongside its survival scenarios. One aspect of the game that truly surprised me was this fact, as I admitted to myself when I played it. Even small games can achieve quality with just a solid foundation and well-thought processes. This is exemplified by The Wanderer.

As a wanderer in The Wanderer, you play the part of someone who lived through the end of the world. Your only task is to live as long as possible in an environment fraught with desolation and danger. To do this, you must forage for food and water, build fortifications and weapons, and explore the land looking for resources.

Finding and touching the item reliably records its stage and inventory arrangement in The Wanderer. After that, players can arrange events, reserve the item, then take it back to the warehouse to complete their next step. This allows them to survive harsh environments with little effort because they can idle while waiting for the next part of the project. Regardless of how slowly you move, you must always walk around and gather each can of food, each rare candy and each water container. This is the first step in surviving your game— one that requires a significant amount of preparation. You must collect as much food and water as possible when starting your game. Doing so ensures your journey lasts longer. As a survivalist, you must prepare for your life by gathering resources, building fortifications and creating weapons. You must also take care of secondary issues such as finding shelter, procuring resources and fighting off enemies. This means you need to gather as much material as possible; then you can use it to exchange for even more resources. While gathering, you should also look for extra supplies to boost the size of your stockpile. Finally, as a defender of your homestead, you must fight off enemies with any means at your disposal. Once you are prepared, you can remain alive and well in your harsh environment.

Seeing a dog hurtles me into a state of emotional turmoil when I play this game. Because of this, I’m intensely affected when considering whether to rescue the pooch or not. Keeping the dog may require providing it food, water and shelter. However, sharing companionship with the dog will lessen its loneliness. Doing so also grants access to additional supplies in the future. This includes finding boxes of food and water and even locating dangerous areas. When traveling with the dog, it's a brave companion that can ward off enemies and help one overcome dangerous situations.

You have the opportunity to travel to new locations, landscapes and scenes when you live longer in the game. Each location has a series of different challenges, dangers, and delights. Choosing how to play the game requires making difficult decisions from simple ones; each decision can lead to many different results or consequences. The game features many Yes/No choices that instill the player with awareness of the surrounding dangers and choices. Through this, the player is in control of the game and takes responsibility for their actions. By doing this, they can effectively relate to the protagonist by embodying their thoughts and feelings.

You can choose a name for your character and customize its skin color at any time. You can also change the character's body, legs, and head at will. Because this character is permanent, it's important to choose carefully when designing him or her.

In the world of The Wanderer, there is no safe place. Some people can even survive like you, but they only want to take from the weak and don’t want to share. During the Apocalypse and the days that follow, people are at their peak when they are tested. Anyone can be trusted to some degree; everyone is constantly plotting against each other. No matter how prepared you are, if you don’t eliminate your enemies soon after they’re born, they will hunt you down. A group of travelling enemies needs to be confronted by a highly trained hunting dog and fortified bunker. Making these basic preparations allows you to handle any threat with the best weapons and defenses possible. In order to quickly move past enemies while building a car, one must locate all the necessary parts and then assemble them into a functional vehicle. Next, one must locate additional items to increase the speed and volume of the vehicle's trunk. Finding similar resources for weapon assembly, pets and bunkers also follows this pattern. Killing enemies grants you rewards that reflect your investment. Over time, the more you live, the more challenging enemies you face and the cooler upgrades you find. Radiated areas pose a health risk. If you enter these areas, decrease your time spent there or restrict entry to just short periods. This will help maintain the status quo of your health.

You must travel the world to find life-sustaining resources. Often you will search for these resources in random homes, police departments and health stores. Additionally, you must frequently wander between towns searching for candies, canned food and other resources. Only the last few people left must complete this challenging task.
