It doesn’t matter if aliens or a ghost alien force threatens the player, as long as they’re still alive at the end of the game. You only have two options to survive in the game— find the necessary raw materials to craft new items or make something already in existence. Start by fashioning tools out of nearby bamboo, stone and leaves. From there, you can create bows and arrows, slingshots, hunting knives and other useful tools. Alternatively, you can trap animals or fish in a river for later consumption. Food needs to be taken care of in addition to providing a drink. Whenever possible, collect rainwater in large and small containers you find on the road. Additionally, gather wood to use as fuel for a fire. Doing so will help keep you safe at night and prevent any moisture from inside your container from escaping. When looking for a suitable shelter, you need to consider one that provides protection from changing weather conditions with a sturdy tent. You only have two avenues of attack when facing mortal danger: natural elements like wolves, hyenas and crocodiles or armed with full power and resilience. You should also stay well-rested and eat nutritiously to prepare for whatever the future has in store. Ed can be defeated using a single bite if proper preparation isn’t done.

Marooned's environments change the level's unfortunate Ed to new, harsher places. Africa's jungle or the Philippines' island desert are some of his destinations. As a result, these settings are very large and cover a wide area. By traveling anywhere you please, you can explore and roam freely. However, remember that traveling requires a lot of energy and necessitates eating more. Finding and completing two secret missions is part of every scene. The game's visuals are well-detailed; you can easily distinguish many items. Ed shows precise and vivid interactions with animals, as well as between objects and himself. He also moves as smoothly and comfortably in open spaces as any other character.
