The Final Fantasy II story contains the most twists and turns of any adventure. It takes the game series' plot the deepest, running for the longest amount of time. The story ended with a positive outcome. The nation is now free from evil; someone who had to die has actually past away. Leon remained tormented by what happened. Firion granted him permission to leave whenever he wanted, but intended him to always know that he could return to Fynn. By temporarily closing Part II, Firion hoped Leon would remember this.

The reboot boasts similar magic to its original iteration with a few added improvements for ease of use and a more mobile-friendly structure. For instance, a character who frequently uses magic will gain more experience than a character specializing in punching attacks. Instead of earning points after each battle, skills are developed based on the often used moves. The more often this person casts magic, the more their stats increase. This includes extra health and magic points for each cast. Additionally, adding more magic to a fight increases the user's MP count.
