Additionally, each decision you make changes the plot forward or backward; up or down; fight or flee; or learn about knots and move forward or backward.

Making decisions through a puzzle in each chapter is part of the game, and you're the decision-maker in the challenge. Sometimes you'll have to start over if you make the wrong decision. At the beginning of Fate of Kai, everything appears easy and straightforward. However, complications gradually emerge as the past intervenes in the present along with yet another time period. Although the feasibility of each option deteriorates, making choices becomes even more thrilling because the narrative difficulty never decreases. Ultimately, your goal transforms from merely ensuring Kai’s safety to directing a grand new plot twist toward your desired outcome. You need to find your way out of this maze of magical books by becoming friends with them. Kai's on-goings reveal him to be special, a purposeful fact that he eventually uncovers following his misadventures. Everything has a reason, and Kai is no exception.

I consider Fate of Kai to be a work of comic art rather than a video game. My reasoning for this is that it lacks competition and fighting as well as any specific plotlines. I think this makes the experience 100 times more interesting than reading a regular book. When opened, the book reveals pages filled with hand-painted frames that exude passion. Each frame is cleverly painted with accurate colors and fills the page with enthusiasm. Even though only a few frames are shown, it’s enough to create an image of love and effort put into the work. When studying the artwork, you’re drawn into the story with an interest in its protagonist. And you appreciate the beauty of the comic as a true piece of art when you realize its value. That’s what I personally find valuable about this game. The game's music is soft and gentle throughout, with no notable complaints. Some chapters have a different, distinct tune; each one holds significance.
